MRA (magnetic resonance angiography)

MRA is a non-invasive technique used to image vascular anatomy. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is a type of MRI scan in which a colored dye is injected into the bloodstream before the scan is done. The dye colors the blood vessels to make them easier to see on the scan. An MRA scan provides more detail than a basic MRI scan. It can help detect problems of the arteries and veins, such as a bulge in the wall of an artery (aneurysm), blockage of a blood vessel (by fatty deposits or a blood clot), or a tear in the inner lining of a blood vessel (dissection).
